Stimulate collagen, soften texture, and even skin tone with skin needling.
Skin needling is a microneedling treatment that stimulates collagen production, improving skin texture and tone. By creating tiny micro-injuries, this minimally-invasive cosmetic procedure promotes the skin’s natural healing process, helping to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and stretch marks. The result is smoother, firmer, and healthier-looking skin with minimal downtime.
When you're ready to enjoy smoother, firmer skin with reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, scarring, acne, and stretch marks, book a microneedling treatment at our Geelong skin clinic today. At Vitality Laser & Skin Clinic in Geelong, we offer skin needling treatments delivered by qualified and experienced dermal clinicians.

SKIN NEEDLING
How Skin Needling Treatment Works
During a skin needling treatment, a device equipped with fine needles is gently passed over the skin’s surface, creating microscopic punctures or "micro-injuries." These small channels trigger the body’s natural healing process, encouraging collagen and elastin production. Over time, this results in smoother, firmer skin. The procedure is minimally invasive and can be used on various areas of the body, including the face, neck, and hands, to address a range of skin concerns.

How to Prepare for a Skin Needling Treatment
Before undergoing a microneedling treatment, it's important to prepare your skin by avoiding sun exposure and certain skincare products, such as retinol, for at least a week prior. You should also avoid chemical peels or any treatments that may irritate your skin. On the day of your microneedling treatment, arrive with clean skin free from makeup, dirt, and oils.
Some patients report mild but manageable discomfort during the procedure. If you’re concerned about pain during the treatment, you can apply numbing cream to reduce any discomfort during the procedure. This is available to purchase in the clinic or at your closest pharmacy.

What to do after a Skin Needling Treatment
You may experience redness or slight swelling, similar to mild sunburn your microneedling treatment, but this typically subsides within a few hours to a day.
Your clinician will explain all aftercare post skin needling. This includes the use of two SkinPen products to assist with hydration and moisture. For the first 24 hours, avoid any skincare products, aside from these SkinPen products, including the use of cleanser and SPF. As you will not have SPF on the skin, avoid direct sun exposure.
We recommend avoiding strenuous activities that could cause excessive sweating for up to 72 hours.
No active ingredients such as Vitamin C, Vitamin A or exfoliants are to be used on the skin for 5-7 days.
What our Clients are Saying
Skin needling, also known as microneedling, is a minimally-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses fine needles to create controlled micro injuries in the skin that trigger the body's natural healing process. By triggering this natural healing response, collagen and elastin production – which helps to maintain skin firmness, elasticity, and structural integrity – is increased, making microneedling an effective treatment for improving skin texture and firmness, and the reduction of fine lines, wrinkles and acne scars. One of the most popular skin treatments at our Geelong clinic, microneedling is suitable for all skin types and tones, and is an effective treatment for a wide range of skin concerns.
Skin needling is a cosmetic procedure that creates tiny, controlled punctures in the skin to stimulate the body's natural healing response. This response triggers collagen and elastin production, which induces structural proteins that tighten and rejuvenate the skin, leading to improved skin texture and firmness, and reducing the visible signs of ageing, like fine lines and wrinkles, as well as minimising pore size. Additional benefits of skin needling include reducing pigmentation, which helps to address sun damage and hyperpigmentation issues, and enhancing skincare absorption by allowing active ingredients to penetrate deeper, which increases their effectiveness. Skin needling is suitable for all skin types and tones, and it can be used to treat a variety of skin concerns, such as acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven skin texture. However, it isn’t recommended for individuals with active skin infections, rosacea, or certain skin conditions. If you have any concerns about having a skin needling treatment, get in touch and speak with one of our dermal clinicians. Alternatively, book a Visia Skin Consultation in which you can discuss your unique skin concerns and desired outcomes with one of our experts, and we can help you understand the best treatments for your skin type, skin concerns and desired outcome.
Side effects are generally minimal and temporary. After a microneedling treatment, you may experience redness, swelling, or mild bruising, which typically resolves within a few hours to a day. Some individuals may also experience slight dryness or flaking in the days following treatment, but these side effects are usually short-lived.
For optimal results, a series of 3 to 6 skin needling treatments spaced about 4 to 6 weeks apart is typically recommended. However, some improvement can be seen after just one treatment. The exact number of microneedling sessions required depends on your individual skin concerns and desired outcomes.
‘Does microneedling hurt?’ is a common question that many clients have about this minimally invasive cosmetic procedure. Most clients experience minimal discomfort during skin needling. You may feel a slight tingling or prickling sensation during the microneedling treatment, but it's generally well-tolerated. A topical numbing cream can be applied to the area beforehand to reduce the sensation.
