How Does Pico Genesis Work?
Pico Genesis uses a non-thermal, photoacoustic technology to deliver laser energy in a picosecond pulse duration, breaking down pigment granules into smaller fragments which are then naturally eliminated via the lymphatic system.
The device features Dual 532 nm and 1064 nm wavelengths, which provide the ability to treat epidermal and dermal hyperpigmentation.
The highly advanced, non-thermal, photo-acoustic laser energy also causes disruption to the upper dermis, promoting natural collagen remodelling that results in skin rejuvenation in fewer sessions compared to traditional laser technology.

What can I expect during my appointment?
Upon arrival for your Pico Genesis, you’ll be asked to fill out a consultation form, which includes questions about your skin type, medical conditions, previous treatments, etc.
One of our dermal clinicians will then have a private discussion with you to determine your main skin concerns and desired treatment outcomes. They’ll suggest a tailored plan and discuss the details of the treatment, including pre- and post-care.

How Many Pico Laser Treatments Do I Need?

Melasma skin is treated on lower settings with the Melasma protocol being six treatments at two to three week intervals.

Following a Pico Genesis treatment, mild redness and swelling can be expected, which will resolve shortly after treatment.
A heat rash or urticaria type of response is common and will resolve with time. An antihistamine can be taken to alleviate symptoms such as itchiness.
Treated pigment will turn darker within 24-48 hours, and to promote healing, avoid picking at the treated areas. These pigmented spots will naturally exfoliate off the face in approximately 1 week, and treated pigment on the body will exfoliate in approximately 2-3 weeks.
Your Vitality Dermal Clinician will provide aftercare recommendations, such as healing serums and sunscreen, to enhance your treatment outcome.
