How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
The laser emits photonic (light) energy which is attracted to the melanin (pigment) of the hair. The photonic energy is converted into thermal (heat) energy which travels through the hair follicle to denature the blood supply and surrounding stem cells that feed the hair follicle.
Over time the blood supply becomes weaker and therefore the hair becomes finer with a slower hair growth cycle, and in some cases stops growing altogether.

Yes, all new laser hair removal clients are required to book in for a patch test prior to your first full treatment.
During the patch test your clinician will discuss how the laser is working to reduce your hair growth, any pre and post care that is required throughout the course of the treatment, as well as perform a patch test on the area being treated. This allows you the chance to feel the sensation of the treatment, and allows us to ensure we have the correct parameter selection for increased safety and treatment efficacy.
Prior to your patch test, no, you can leave the area as is. This gives us the opportunity to see the hair thickness and colour, and thus choose accurate treatment settings.
However, for your first full treatment, yes we ask that you shave the day prior to your treatment.
