Atrophic Scars - Atrophic scars are depressed or sunken scars that occur when there is a loss of tissue during healing. They are often seen in conditions like acne or chickenpox.
Hypertrophic or Keloid Scars - Are raised, thickened scars that form when excess collagen is produced during healing. Keloid scars extend beyond the injury site, while hypertrophic scars stay within the boundaries of the wound.
