There are a few steps we’ll ask you to follow in the lead-up to your first appointment:
- Stop waxing or plucking the treatment area 4-6 weeks before your appointment
- Shave the area to be treated 24 hours before your appointment
- We also advise you to avoid moisturisers, perfumes, and deodorants the day leading up to your appointment
- No tanning creams or sun exposure for 4 weeks as this can result in complications

What happens if you don’t shave before laser hair removal?
We ask you to stop waxing or plucking the area, as these two particular hair removal techniques remove the hair from the root; however we want the root to remain – this is what the laser targets.
This is why we ask you to shave the area: shaving removes surface-level hair but leaves the root; this ensures optimal laser hair removal results.
If you don’t shave before your appointment, the laser can singe the hair and can even cause burns to your skin.
Performing laser treatment on skin that has not been shaved can also compromise your results.
